Adam’s Little Known Social Media Secret: The notion that some people have a special sauce or advantage is a myth. In fact, you should be extremely weary of anyone claiming to possess such a thing. The truth is that there are no shortcuts to community building, it requires sustained time, effort and dedication: at least to create a community that is truly activated and interested. The one item (that isn’t actually a secret) most seem to miss is passion. Without this, it is difficult or perhaps impossible to have expectation a group will actually form around your content or brand. If a company has a passion for their products and team members, that should be allowed to be organically expressed on the web. Enabling and encouraging this is the best path to social success. That, and hire smart people who are technology literate. You shouldn’t have to spend time at this juncture getting people “up to speed” on social. If you do, you’re always going to be playing catch-up.
Know that you’re not going to become rich overnight online. Sure, some things will take off when they hit the Internet, but you may have to wait a while to start visualizing ensues. It’s never a good theory to pay someone to do your marketing for you if you don’t know what kind of study they can do. If you find that you need to rework your marketing plans and “re going to have to” hire someone else, see if you can get citations of the task they’ve done in the past. Most people will have nothing to hide and something to demonstrate you to illustrate how they can help you .
You’ve heard about best practices, but what does it mean exactly? It refers to the good (“white hat”) tactics you should be using to get your business found online. Using “black hat” practices can result in penalties from Google, Facebook, and spam filters. Here are some important best practices for the main channels of internet marketing:
Join Shark Tank’s Daymond John, MailChimp’s Ben Chestnut, California Baby®’s Jessica Iclisoy and hundreds of scrappy and trailblazing entrepreneurs at this year’s Grow Your Company Conference. To learn more visit Growco Conference.
According to Porter, these strategies are mutually exclusive and the firm must select one approach to the exclusion of all others. Firms that try to be all things to all people can present a confused market position which ultimately leads to below average returns. Any ambiguity about the firm’s approach is a recipe for “strategic mediocrity” and any firm that tries to pursue two approaches simultaneously is said to be “stuck in the middle” and destined for failure.
