The idea behind a niche website is to target a specific niche (for example, a specific kind of photography), rank on Google for the keywords related to that niche, and then turn that traffic into earnings through affiliate offers or through selling your own products.
I have worked for over 60 hours per week for the past 3 years, publishing 600 books on KDP, Createspace, and ACX. I didn’t do anything shady, and I was making between 10,000 to 15,000 per month. They are the most evil, corrupt company in the world, and I am shocked that customers still trust them. Well, at least they lost one family of customers. Never buying from them again. They need to rot in prison. Stealing is against the law!
You wouldn’t go through all the work to get products into Walmart and then decide you really don’t care to play by their rules would you? You’re in their store. Think of selling on Amazon, eBay, Overstock, and so on, as being in their store…having your products in their store.
Robin, The reason for that is because some sellers sell on both Amazon and eBay. The seller sends all of their inventory to Amazon’s fulfillment centers (using FBA-fulfillment by Amazon) and lists them on Amazon and eBay. If an item sells on eBay, the seller directs Amazon to ship the item to the eBay buyer. That creates two sales channels for the seller and Amazon ships quick with a tracking number. It is a win-win for both buyer and seller.

Growing inequality in the U.S. may offer new challenges to building a truly national retailer. But once again, Sears offers a lesson. The company thrived as long as it used U.S. demographics as a guide—following Americans to the suburbs of the South and West, and selling parts for their favorite new toy, the automobile. Amazon, too, will thrive as long as it uses American demographics as a roadmap and takes advantage of new personal technology, like mobile phones for shopping and AI assistants for the home. In the last six months, Amazon has spent $13 billion to buy Whole Foods and its upscale urban locations. At the same time, it has offered discounts for low-income shoppers to become Prime subscribers. Perhaps Sears’s descendant can become an everything store for everyone.

If you sell on Amazon, you should periodically check eBay for your products. Several of our Amazon listings were copied and listed on eBay by foreign sellers. There is a process you can go through to have them removed but you have to have the identical images and/or text on your own company website to prove the listing information was stolen. This is particularly concerning to us when our products are only sold in the US for various reasons and these other sellers are offering to ship our product overseas. I’ve had four of our products removed from eBay and have found a few sellers in the Amazon forum who think it is perfectly fine to jump on your listing, inflate the prices of your branded items, and use you as a dropshipper. Not cool.

I’ve read bits around your site that there are certain categories that are restricted to sell in. Is there a place on your site where you can lost those, as well as what categories are not restricted at all?
I can’t tell you exactly at what point the government should step in to block Amazon from buying another company or curtail some of its business practices. I am, however, fairly confident in saying that it ought to be well before Amazon achieves a 40 percent market share in books, groceries, clothing, hardware, electronics and home furnishings. From its founding in the late 19th century to its world-famous catalog, the history of Sears, Roebuck & Company is well known. Less storied is its magnificently successful transition from a mailing company to a brick-and-mortar giant. Like Amazon among its online-shopping rivals, Sears was not the country’s first mail-order retailer, but it became the largest of its kind. Like Amazon, it started with a single product category—watches, rather than books. But, like Amazon, the company grew to include a range of products, including guns, gramophones, cars, and even groceries.
Many women at Amazon attribute its gender gap — unlike Facebook, Google or Walmart, it does not currently have a single woman on its top leadership team — to its competition-and-elimination system. Amazon’s general counsel, David Zapolsky, had a lot on his mind last month when he and four members of his legal team visited the offices of New America, a liberal-leaning think tank in Washington.
