KHAN: So the post office is losing money through doing business with Amazon. Vendors who sell to Amazon avoid some headache with logistics, but are limited with their scope and ability to market products. It was profitable but took so much time with all the pictures and writing up the listing then the shipping. This sounds easier. Here are my questions, can I still buy inventory from this guy>>he then ships it to me freight, then I create the listings on Amazon (my understanding they have standard listing for shoes which is what I would sell) then ship everything freight to the amazon fullfilment center? Why is Amazon looking more and more like an old-fashioned retailer? The company’s do-it-all corporate strategy adheres to a familiar playbook—that of Sears, Roebuck & Company. Sears might seem like a zombie today, but it’s easy to forget how transformative the company was exactly 100 years ago, when it, too, was capitalizing on a mail-to-consumer business to establish a physical retail presence.
They also often have two sets of customers who need each other, such as credit card companies that serve merchants and cardholders, or Internet service providers that link content producers with content consumers.
To prod employees, Amazon has a powerful lever: more data than any retail operation in history. Its perpetual flow of real-time, ultradetailed metrics allows the company to measure nearly everything its customers do: what they put in their shopping carts, but do not buy; when readers reach the “abandon point” in a Kindle book; and what they will stream based on previous purchases. It can also tell when engineers are not building pages that load quickly enough, or when a vendor manager does not have enough gardening gloves in stock.
But to keep it simple, make your default bid somewhere between 50 cents to a dollar, click save and finish and your campaign will start to run. Automatic campaigns are really great to set up at the start for a number of reasons.

From the start, Sears’s genius was to market itself to consumers as an everything store, with an unrivaled range of products, often sold for minuscule profits. The company’s feel for consumer demand was so uncanny, and its operations so efficient, that it became, for many of its diehard customers, not just the best retail option, but the only one worth considering.
