  1. Like reselling manufactured items, selling private label products has upfront costs because you have to buy these goods in some volume. But if you’re trying to build brand recognition beyond Amazon, private label products are a great way to do it.
    Thanks in part to its ability to extract the most from employees, Amazon is stronger than ever.     Alexa, the Dash button, Fire tablets, Fire —they all accomplish the same goal, which is always keeping Amazon.com and its affiliated services just a tap or two away. It’s totally consumer focused, a must for Amazon, but with the larger motivation of keeping that consumer more likely to shop on Amazon than anywhere else.
    What they did do, however, was commit to 1000 units out of the gate and negotiate exceptionally good pricing so that they could afford to sell it for a few cents cheaper than their competition (See the 4th and 5th items that are from the same manufacturer in China).
    Many sellers have jumped on this opportunity to launch entire brands seemingly over night. The visibility that Amazon offers to new product line sellers who know how to navigate the platform, is a great benefit to selling on Amazon.
    Starting as a franchise can give you an upper hand by buying into an already established brand. You can leverage the brand’s already established customer base to drive sales as well as use their knowledge and proven marketing and operations strategies to run your business. However, within the online boutique space, there are not a lot of options. In many cases it is more cost effective to either start your own brand or buy an existing one.
